Interiors by Piper Chuthakieo

My mother introduced me to interior design at a young age, ushering me to the showrooms on Melrose Avenue in search of “the perfect piece.” I played with a pearled Labrador at Grace Home and picked out wallpaper to match the drapes and the bedspread and the dust ruffle at Laura Ashley. It was the 80s! It felt fancy and out of reach, yet friendly. She was a good client after all, there was “sucking up” if you will. But it wasn’t until I bought my first home 20 years ago that the concept of transforming a space really got me. The idea that a person’s mood, damn - I’ll say whole well being - can actually be altered with something as simple as changing a paint color. It still fascinates me so many rooms later. I dove into construction while remodeling a bathroom in our first home and I was hooked. I couldn’t seem to get enough sawdust in the morning! That joy still inspires me and makes me want to bring it to other people. I want them to experience the magic of seeing a space transform. I live and breathe it now and I bring that enthusiasm to the site. Whether it’s a closet or a great room, it’s all the same to me. It’s all an opportunity to make something beautiful and make people happy and proud to say “Welcome to my home”.
